About Discover
Discover is a credit card brand that primarily operates in the United States. It was introduced by Sears in 1985 and introduced a unique feature of not charging an annual fee and offering a higher-than-normal credit limit, which was considered disruptive to the existing credit card industry. Discover also introduced "Cashback Bonus" on purchases, a subsequent innovation. Most Discover cards are issued by Discover Bank, formerly known as the Greenwood Trust Company. Transactions are processed through the Discover Network payment network. In 2005, Discover Financial Services acquired Pulse, an electronic funds transfer network, which allowed the company to market and issue debit and ATM cards. In 2006, Discover began offering Discover debit cards to other financial institutions through the acquisition of Pulse.
